Here We Are
To you it has been almost 10 months
To us it is yesterday and today
It is this morning and last night
It is 10 minutes ago and it is 10 minutes from now when I am running late again
It is this time last year getting ready for a Bat Mitzvah
It is a year from now and five years from now and 10 years from now and 20 years from now
It is every moment that we roll over in bed and an alarm is going off
And we pull the blankets over our head
Or buy a puppy or write a poem or decorate for Halloween
Or watch every episode of Good Luck Charlie
Or show up in life because we don't want to disappear
And with every step we have faith that time heals
Here we are we say over and over again even if we are not really sure
If you have lost someone you love, maybe you are here too?
I should be doing about a million other things
But Here I Am
In Hebrew "Here I Am" is "Hineni" הנני
I learned that from a Rabbi on TV
In bed catching up on a favorite series
That's where I spent some of yesterday
Today I am writing from my screened in porch
Somewhere over the rainbow
Where the bluebirds in my backyard sing
Song is Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'de
